2011 Stanley Cup Betting Odds: Vancouver Canucks Lead Way
April 11th, 2011- By Bryan Cross
The 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs are set to begin this week, and the team with the best record to close out the regular season is atop the odds to win it all.
The Vancouver Canucks set team-records for wins, points and total goals this season en route to tabbing the best record in the NHL and the No.1 seed in the Western conference. They must now get prepared to take the ice against the defending Stanley Cup Champions in the opening round of the playoffs though, as the Chicago Blackhawks drew the eighth and final seed in the post-season for the match up.
The Canucks are a heavy favorite to win the West and reach the Stanley Cup, and are actually the overall favorite to win prior to the start of the post-season. But the rest of the West might have something to say about that.
As will the East side of the NHL playoffs, with several teams looking to make a run.
The team in the East that has made the biggest move over the course of the last couple of months are the No.1 seed Washington Capitals. The Capitals surpassed Pittsburgh, Boston, and Philadelphia on their way to the top of the conference, receiving the top seed and ensuring home-ice advantage up until the Stanley Cup Finals.
Its the Canucks and Capitals that lead the line of favorite on NHL Futures Odds To Win Stanley Cup at Bodog Sportsbook. Vancouver has been installed with odds at 3/1 prior to the start of the post season, while Washington comes in at 11/2.
Following behind the two No.1 seeds from the respective conference are both No.2 seeds. The San Jose Sharks received the second seed out west, while the Philadelphia Flyers get the No.2 seed in the east. The Flyers looked primed to be the No.1 seed in the East, until stumbling home over the last several weeks allowing Washington to vault past them into the top position in the conference. Stanley Cup Betting Odds don’t have the two No.2 seeds very far apart from each other, with the Sharks coming in at 7/1 and the Flyers 8/1.
Rounding out the top-five odds to win the 2011 Stanley Cup are the Boston Bruins, the No.3 seed in the East, at 17/2 on Bodog.
