2012 Preakness Stakes Prop Betting Odds And More
In 1973 Secretariat won the Preakness Stakes on a record pace, setting a mark that has yet to be broken nearly 40 years later.
Well, the 2012 edition of the Preakness is upon us this Saturday, with that mark getting another chance to hold up or go down.
And oddsmakers are jumping in on the action.
The Preakness is the second leg of the Triple Crown, and one of the most bet-on races in the world. And most will be paying attention to I’ll Have another, the winner of the 2012 Kentucky Derby.
But there are plenty of 2012 Preakness odds to place wagers on that are outside of the overall winner prior to post time. In fact Preakness Prop betting lines are very popular. We are going to take a look at a couple of margin of victory props, time props and more.
Beginning with the record pace Secretariat set in 1973, oddsmakers are asking whether or not that mark will be broken. The time was 1:53.40, with the odds believing that no horse in the 1–horse field this year will set a new mark, going off at -1000 to finish with a higher time. A lower time pays out +600.
Then Bovada asks whether or not a horse will go wire-to-wire. That means will a horse lead at every checkpoint throughout the race
and go on to win. The odds to no favor this, set at -280.
Finally, we get into margin of victory prop odds for the Preakness, with one and three lengths wagered on. Both are over/under totals. The first is an over/under one length on the margin of victory, with the odds taking the over. The odds take the under on the three-length margin however.
While these might be somewhat confusing for you in word form, we have taken the liberty of setting the full list of prop odds for the 2012 Preakness as seen on Bovada for you to check out below, so be sure to visit their site and make a wager before post time.
