2012 Tour de France Betting Odds
It seems that cycling is only in the news for two reasons of late. Either when a cyclist is accused of doping and suspended, or for the Tour de France.
This is a little of both though.
The good news is for cycling is that their marquee event is coming up next week, with the 2012 Tour De France beginning on June 30th, and running until July 22nd. This will be the 99th running of the most famous cycling event in the world.
But with the recent revelations about Lance Armstrong and doping once again in the headlines this past month, it just seems like cycling can’t get past this huge black eye in the sport. And the simple fact of the matter is that the winner of the Tour de France every year will likely be suspected of doping. And even if they pass all of their tests, I think fans of the sport really just don’t care anymore. Doping appears to be apart of the sport.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t get any bigger than the Tour de France, and oddsmakers have jumped in on the action this year, like the do every year.
British cyclist Bradley Wiggins leads the way on the list of favorites to win the 2012 Tour de France available at Bovada Sportsbook. Wiggins is going off at 7/5 to win his first career Tour de France. He comes in off of victories at Paris-Nice and the Tour de Romandie and is obviously the hot topic in cycling.
Just behind Wiggins is the defending Tour de France champion Cadel Evans. Evans is set at 2/1 to win a second-straight Tour de France after his breakthrough win in 2011.
And really outside of these two cyclists at the top of the betting odds, the odds skyrocket up to 20/1. So it’s clear that the list is very top heavy when it comes to who people will think will win the race.
Below, we have the complete odds to win the Tour de France, as they are seen on Bovada Sportsbook, so be sure to check them out and see how they look.
