Dodgers Atop 2014 World Series Betting Lines Heading Into Spring Training

Red Sox Win World SeriesIt wasn’t that long ago that the Boston Red Sox closed out the first World Series at Fenway Park in nearly 100 years. But already the 2014 MLB season is approaching, with teams having pitchers and catchers reporting. Opening Day is less than two months away and even before an inning has been pitched there are teams that have asserted themselves among the top title contenders.

The Red Sox are the defending World Series champions, but they are not the favorites to repeat that title. In fact, it’s a team on the complete opposite side of the country that has been tabbed as the one to beat.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took Major League Baseball by storm over the second half of the season to achieve the best record following the All Star break. After a win in the postseason series over Atlanta, Los Angeles dropped in the NLCS to St. Louis, ending their run.

Oddsmakers are high on the Dodgers to get right back on the horse and this time start the season out on the right foot. At 13/2 to win the World Series at Bovada Sportsbook, Los Angeles is out in front alone at the top. There are several top contenders not far behind though.

It’s three powerhouse organizations from the American League that follow. The Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, and the defending World Series champions. The Tigers are going off at 17/2, with the Yankees just behind at 10/1. There is a slight jump up to 12/1 where Boston has been slated alongside the Cardinals and Washington Nationals.

Within the top-six favorites is split evenly down the middle with three teams from the NL and three teams from the AL.

There are nearly 10 teams that sit between a 14/1 payout and a 22/1 payout. This is common for a championship betting line prior to the start of the season.

Bettors can expect these current payouts to stay relatively constant up until the start of Opening Day. From there, constant changes will be in order as teams fluctuate up and down the division standings. With MLB playing so many games each week, the potential to secure a high profit margin is certainly there.

These World Series futures from Bovada will be up throughout the season. SportsbookGurus.com will be on top of the latest betting lines.
