Edgar vs Maynard / Aldo vs Florian Headline UFC 136 Betting Lines

MMA action takes center stage on Saturday night in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center for UFC 136.  Two championship fights are on the card and include lightweights Frankie Edgar taking on Gray Maynard and featherweights Jose Aldo against Kenny Florian.  Another huge fight is on tap as well as Chael Sonnen takes on Brian Stann with the winner of this one getting a shot at the title.

 

Dana White has vowed that the winner of the Sonnen-Stann fight will get a shot at the title.  With this at stake, it should not add to the very aggresive fighting style that Sonnen brings to each fight.  While this might not work for most, it seems to for him.  Keeping this under control and not letting his aggressiveness work against him will be key for Sonnen (25-11) . If Stann can keep his composure and not let Sonnen’s charge effect him, he could get the win.  MMA sportsbooks feel Sonnen will come away victorious and have his moneyline set at -275 while Stann (11-3) has his set at +215.

 

In one of the co-main events, Edgar will take on Maynard for the third time in his career.  Maynard (10-0 1) got the win in their first fight but their second fight ended in a draw.  The “Bully” won their first meeting by unanimous decision after being in total control of the tempo in their bout.  Edgar will likely use his advantage in boxing to hopefully come away with the title held by Maynard.  He has had nine months to build up momentum for Saturday’s fight and will likely put on a great show.  Edgar (13-1) has been tagged the betting favorite with a moneyline set at -140 while Maynard has his line set at +110.

 

In the other co-main event, Aldo will look to defend his featherweight title against Florian.  Aldo (19-1)  has one of the most punishing kicks in MMA and also brings power with his punches. But he will be facing a fighter in Florian (14-5) who has never been knocked out.  It will be interesting to see if he attempts to bring this fight to the ground.  Florian has spent quite some time training in his wrestling game so if he can last through the barrage of strikes Aldo is going to bring early, he could come away with a victory if he can get him to the ground.  Aldo will be favored in the fight with a moneyline set at -500.  Florian has his line set at +350.
