Houston Texans vs Miami Dolphins NFL Week 1 Betting Odds
The Houston Texans are not only picked as favorites in the AFC South this season, there are many out there picking them to win the AFC and reach Super Bowl XLVII.
Pretty lofty expectations for a team coming off of their first-ever division title and playoff berth.
But when you look at Houston, you can see why the hype is being generated around this team, in the division that they are in.
The Texans will open up at home against the Miami Dolphins on the opening Sunday of the 2012 NFL Season. Matt Schaub will be back on the field for Houston, after suffering season-ending foot injury in 2011. That certainly hurt the Texans in the playoffs. But Schaub is back and looking healthy, ready to throw it down the field, and hand it off to arguably the best running back in the NFL.
That would be Arian Foster. Foster dealt with some injury issues as well, but came on later in the season and showed why he is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL.
On the other side of the field, the Dolphins will be starting one of five rookie quarterbacks in the NFL’s opening week in 2012. Ryan Tannehill out of Texas A&M is pegged as the future leader of this team, and will get his first chance to showcase what he can do against the Texans on the road.
And while Houston’s defense is definitely improved, Tannehill will have chances to make plays, potentially big ones down the field.
It’s Houston that is getting the assertive edge from oddsmakers in this matchup though.
