NFL Betting Odds Predict Steelers Over Packers In Super Bowl XLV

January 23rd, 2011- By Bryan Cross

The AFC and NFC Championship games get underway on Sunday, as the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers compete for the right to play in Super Bowl XLV and stamp their tickets to Dallas for a Feb. 6 meeting.

The Packers and Bears collide first on Sunday, with Chicago getting the home field advantage and hosting the game. The Bears earned the No.2 seed in the NFC bracket this season after winning the NFC North Division. They defeated the Seattle Seahawks last week in the divisional round of the playoffs to advance to the NFC Championship game.

For the No.6 seed Green Bay, all that they have done is gone on the road to No.3 seed Philadelphia and No.1 seed Atlanta. Now, they have one more game that stands before them and a trip to the Super Bowl led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

On the AFC side of the equation, the New York Jets began this season with a target on their back. Though, it was a target on their pack that the created, beginning with their HBO Series ‘Hardknocks’ which went through Jets’ training camp. New York came out of the gates winning nine of their firstt 11 games before an embarrassing 42-point defeat on Monday night to the New England Patriots. New York seemed to stumble into the playoffs, earning the No.6 seed. However, like the Packers, the Jets have gone on the road twice, beating Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts and then avenged the loss to New England and Tom Brady. Now, New York travels to face Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers, the No.2 seed in the AFC, are going for their third Super Bowl title in seven seasons. Roethlisberger is also going for his third title under the age of 30, putting him in the upper echelon of the top-tier quarterbacks in history. The Steelers captured the AFC North division and the second seed, earning the first-round bye and a win over the Baltimore Ravens to advance to the AFC title game.
