NFL Draft Prop Betting Odds: How Many QBs Will Be Taken In The First Round?
We know for a fact that there will be two quarterbacks taken with the first two picks in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Both the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins have come out and said that they will make Andrew luck and Robert Griffin III the top-two picks on Thursday night respectively.
That would make two quarterbacks taken in the first round.
But how many total will go in the opening round on Thursday night?
Oddsmakers at Bovada Sportsbook are fielding a wager on this very topic on their NFL Draft Prop Betting Odds.
The over/under total has been set at 3.5. So that means four or more will take the over, and three or fewer will go the under.
So let’s take a look at some of the options. Since we know that two will be taken, that leaves the over needing two more to get to that payout.
Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill is widely considered to be the third-best quarterback in this draft, and a high possibility to go to the Miami Dolphins at No.8. But even if he doesn’t go to Miami at No.8, there is no way he will fall below No.21 to Cleveland, for their second pick in the first round.
So there’s three. one more needed for the over total. But who?
Well, Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden is a high prospect at the position, but the fact that he is 28 years old, and will almost be 29 by the time he takes an NFL field might be playing against him.
Weeden had great success at Oklahoma State, and has shown the ability and maturity that many NFL teams look for. There is no doubt that he will fall no lower than the second round, but will a team jump up and take him with their first pick?
That we cannot be sure of.
Others to consider are 6’7 quarterback from Arizona State Brock Osweiler, and Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins.
But this bet really comes down to whether or not you think Weeden will be taken in the first round.
