New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts Game Odds + Matchup Info

Colts vs. PatriotsThe Indianapolis Colts completed a four-touchdown comeback in the second half to beat the Kansas City Chiefs and advance to the Divisional round of the playoffs. Their reward? A road trip to New England to face Tom Brady and the Patriots.

That might not sound like much of a reward for many, because New England was a perfect 8-0 at home this season and have been one of the best teams at home for a decade. But you can bet that Andrew Luck and the Colts are looking forward to the challenge. After overcoming the 28-point deficit to win 45-44, Indianapolis has to be riding high.

But what’s perhaps most impressive (and something that can be applied to the game against the Patriots), is the fact that Luck was able to bounce back the way he did. Luck through three interceptions in the first half against a Chiefs team that was without its best player on offense Jamaal Charles. This allowed Kansas City short field position, which they took advantage of. But in the face of adversity and staring down the end of the season, Luck showed why he is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL. He spearheaded the charge and gained plenty of respect in the process. This could pay dividends Saturday night in New England.

The Patriots got to watch it all on TV during their bye week as the No.2 seed in the AFC. New England and Indianapolis did not meet in the regular season, but they have faced Andrew Luck before during his rookie campaign in 2012 (won by the Patriots 59-24).

New England won five of its last six games to close out the regular season and AFC East title. They averaged 37.5 points over the course of their final two games, which will be a challenge to the Colts defense.

At home, the Patriots are easily favored to win this game. New England is going off at Bovada Sportsbook as 7.5-point favorites to advance to the AFC Championship Game (Denver vs. San Diego winner). The Patriots have been a much better team against the point spread at home than on the road. They were 8-0 straight up at home, and 6-2 ATS. That is among the best in the NFL on the betting line. Those who took the Patriots in Gillette Stadium saw a very nice return on investment.

At the same time, Indianapolis was over .500 ATS on the road. The 5-3 ATS record away from Lucas Oil Stadium means that the Colts played it close in most games.

A wager on Indianapolis would give those wagering seven points. That means if the Colts keep it within one possession, it’s a win against the spread.

This is the second of two playoff games on Saturday. The game kicks off just after 8 pm ET on NBC and should be another cold one.
