NFL Preseason Week 2: Houston Texans vs San Francisco 49ers Betting Odds
The San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans both have a lot to build on heading into the 2012 NFL Season. Both made the playoffs last season but failed to live up to expectations.
For the 49ers, they got off to a good preseason start winning their opener over Minnesota 17-6. The Texans also notched a win with their 26-13 win over Carolina.
On Saturday night, these two will face off in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason as the 49ers head to Texas.
The 49ers seem set in their quarterback rotation with Alex Smith as the starter and Colin Kaepernick as his backup. Smith had just 3 passing attempts in the Vikings game but his playing time should increase as the preseason progresses.
It’s no doubt that San Francisco has been backed by their strong rushing attack led by Frank Gore. The big question is who will emerge as his backup with such a loaded backfield.
Kendall Hunter rushed for 24 in the opener but fullback Anthony Dixon led all backs with 12 carries. And the addition of Brandon Jacobs adds to their assault. Expect the 49ers to begin to nail down their rotation in the near future as Hunter, Jacobs and LaMichael James should see a majority of the action.
The Texans also will increase the playing time of their starters which should add more intrigue to this preseason matchup. Matt Schaub returned to action after missing the end of last year and went 3 of 6 in the opener against Carolina while backup T.J. Yates got the majority of the work.
It is no secret that this early in the preseason that the majority of games are decided by those vying for backup positions, which in turn could make it difficult in regards to wagering on preseason game. Bovada Sportsbook has made this available however and have installed the Texans as 3-point favorites in their NFL Preseason Betting Odds. The OVER/UNDER in points is set at 37 for the 8:00 pm ET kickoff.
