NFL To Institute New Game-Day PED Testing For 2011-12 Season
August 11th, 2011 – By Bryan Cross
The NFL has decided to institute a new game-day drug testing policy for the upcoming season, for which players will be subject to tests for performance-enhancing drugs.
This new policy is set forth under the newly negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“I would certainly expect players will be tested in an amount that will be meaningful. But more important, the idea is not so much the number of tests performed, but it is the constant threat of testing that provides the key to deterrence under this particular program,” NFL vice president of labor and policy Adolpho Birch said.
Both parties, the league and the NFLPA, had to come to terms on the issue, just one of the numerous ones that were decided over the course of the four-month lockout.
And as the NFL preseason is set to kickoff tonight, oddsmakers and online sportsbooks have got in on the drug testing action.
Bodog Sportsbook has compiled several NFL Prop Betting Lines relating to positive test results for the upcoming year.
