No.10 Virginia Tech Hokies Road Favorites Over No.21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
First place in the ACC Coastal division will be on the line on Thursday night in prime time when the No.10 Virginia Tech Hokies hit the road to take on the No.21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Both teams will be fresh this week, coming off of Byes in the week prior.
“This game has been a big part of the division race,” remarked Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson. “Again this year, if we lose we’re out of the race, so to speak, so it’s a big game for us.”
The Hokies underwhelmed in their last outing in a 14-10 win on the road over Duke.
Virginia Tech running back David Wilson says that he is ready to get back onto the field and get after the Yellow Jackets.
“I’m going to be anxious to get back on the field,” Wilson said. “Eleven days is a long time.”
Oddsmakers believe that Wilson and the Hokies will be in for a battle, though have set Virginia Tech as the betting favorite in the match up.
College Football Betting Odds on online sportsbooks have set Virginia Tech as a one-point favorite over Georgia Tech on the road, meaning the Hokies will need a two-point win or more to cover. Georgia Tech can only get an against the spread win with a straight up win in a one-point line scenario.
It should be a fun match up to watch when the Georgia Tech offense and Virginia Tech defense is on the field.
The Yellow Jackets lead the nation in rushing, averaging 328 yards in the triple-option offense.
“Every week’s not going to be just magnificent,” Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer said. “But sometimes when you can get through a game when it wasn’t so good and get a win, that’s big in the big picture.”
Georgia Tech is coming off of a big win by two touchdowns, 31-17 over then No.6 Clemson to knock the Tigers from the ranks of the unbeaten on Oct. 29.
The two losses for the Yellow Jackets have come on the road this season, with Georgia Tech remaining perfect at home with Virginia Tech coming to town.
“We know what we can do as a team,” Georgia Tech quarterback Tevin Washington said. “It’s not about falling down. It’s about getting back up.”
