No.8 North Carolina Tar Heels Favored Over Virginia Tech Hokies On College Basketball Odds
The No.8 North Carolina Tar Heels look to rebound from a blowout loss on the road to Florida State over the weekend.
The Tar Heels tumbled five spots in the latest edition of the college basketball rankings, and get the chance to get back on the winning side of things on Thursday night.
“I didn’t say anything to the team,” North Carolina head coach Roy Williams said. “We just got together quickly and I got out because I’d rather wait until I look at the tape. I don’t want to say some things that are stupid.”
It was the largest margin of defeat for the Tar Heels under Williams, and the worst defeat for North Carolina since back in 2003.
“There is no facet of the game that we don’t need to work on, from free throws to box outs to guarding the ball to help-side defense to not turning it over,” Williams said. “Florida State made us look like a bunch of little junior high guys.”
Oddsmakers favor North Carolina to bounce back against a tough Virginia Tech team.
College Basketball Betting Odds at Bovada sportsbook have set the tar Heels as eight-point favorites over the Hokies.
Though Virginia Tech is a -115 favorite to cover the line, with North Carolina going off at -105.
The over/under point total is set at 144 points.
Virginia Tech has lost three-straight conference games, and will need an upset win over North Carolina to avoid a fourth.
“We’re not playing fast enough,” said Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg. “We’ve got to get out in transition. Our wing guys aren’t running hard enough.”
Coverage of this game between the Hokies and Tar Heels gets under on ESPN at 9pm ET.
