Odds To Win The 2012 Kentucky Oaks
While the majority of people will recognize the Kentucky Derby by name, one of the most popular races at Churchill Downs takes place on Friday.
The notoriety for the Kentucky Oaks might be overshadowed by the Derby, but make no mistake that there is plenty talent at the Oaks on Friday afternoon.
The 2012 Kentucky Oaks gets going on Friday just before 6pm ET, with 14 horses competing for a $600,000 first place prize. It is a Grade 1 Stake race open to three-year-old Thoroughbred fillies. The race is just over one mile a 1 1/8.
And with the winner of the race getting a large ring of lilies, similar to the roses for the Derby, this race is referred to as the ‘lilies for the fillies’, similar to the ‘run for the roses’ term coined for the Derby.
So how do the odds stack up for the race.
The latest Odds to win the 2012 Kentucky Oaks available at Bovada Sportsbook have set Grace Hall as the overall favorite to win, going off at 9/4 on the dollar amount wagered. That is just over a 2/1 payout.
Behind Grace Hall are several fillies with close odds, led by On Fire Baby at 4/1, and Broadways Alibi coming in at 9/2.
After these top-three favorites, the betting lines jump up rather significantly, with the next wave of fillies and their odds coming in at 10/1. Believe You Can is installed with those 10/1 odds, with several fillies just behind at 12/1.
