Oddsmakers Form Betting Odds With Albert Pujols Going To L.A Angels
The American League just added a three-time National League MVP on Thursday with the Los Angeles Angels signing free agent first baseman Albert Pujols, formerly of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Pujols reportedly agreed to a 10-year, $250 million deal. That would put him at age 41 by the completion of the contract.
“This is a monumental day for Angel fans and I could not be more excited,” said Angels owner Arte Moreno.
Pujols was a monumental part of the cardinals during his career, including in the run to the World Series title this past October and November.
But Pujols was not the only player that the Angels acquired. Los Angeles also brings in starting pitcher C.J Wilson.
But Pujols has stolen the headlines, with many left wondering why the Cardinals weren’t able retain their most valuable player.
“We are disappointed that we were unable to reach an agreement to keep Albert Pujols in St. Louis,” remarked Cardinals chairman and CEO Bill DeWitt Jr. “Albert is a great champion and we will always be thankful for his many achievements in a Cardinals uniform, as well as his contributions to the St. Louis community. I have the highest regard for Albert both personally and professionally, and appreciate his direct involvement in this process. I would like our fans to know that we tried our best to make Albert a lifetime Cardinal but unfortunately we were unable to make it happen.”
Pujols had been in talks with the Cardinals and the Miami Marlins, with the shock coming from the angels where no one thought they were going to be a possibility.
The signing of Pujols changed a variety of betting odds on online sportsbooks.
MLB Player Prop Odds and World Series Futures Lines have bee affected and formulated with Pujols and his new home.
