Oklahoma State Cowboys Field-Goal Favorites Over Oklahoma Sooners
The Oklahoma State Cowboys know that they will have to win on Saturday night to have any hopes of reaching the BCS Championship game.
But they will have to go through their nemesis of late.
The Oklahoma Sooners.
The Sooners have owned the rivalry this past decade, with the winner this week capturing the Big 12 conference crown. But even though the Sooners are out of the national championship picture, they still have a lot to play for.
Oklahoma State currently sits No.3 in the BCS rankings, and will stamp their claim for a top-two spot with a win over Oklahoma and a Big 12 title under their belt.
“For us right now, we need to prepare to win this game,” Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy said. “If we win this game and we play well and somebody thinks that it’s enough to put us in position to play for that, nobody will be more fired up than I will about it and excited for our players.”
The same goes for Oklahoma.
“They know it’s a one-game season with the chance for the Big 12 championship,” Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said. “That’s where you want to be.”
The Cowboys get the edge by oddsmakers this week though, going off as field-goal favorites on College Football Betting Odds at Bodog Sportsbook.
Oklahoma has beaten Oklahoma State nine-straight times.
“Everybody’s spirits are high and excited,” Gundy said. “We won’t approach it any differently but our players and our coaches have to stay focused on the task at hand.”
It should be an offensive showcase, with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma ranking third and fourth respectively in the nation in terms of total offensive production.
