This year will mark the ninety-fifth annual contest and a chance for two time defending champion, Joey Chestnut, to keep hold of his title of winner of the Nathan’s International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest. In 2009, Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi and two-time defending champion Joey Chestnut were favorites. They ended the contest with a head to head match up. While six time champion Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi gave Chestnut a fight to the finish, it was Chestnut who prevailed by consuming 68 hot dogs to Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi’s 64 1/2 hot dogs, all in less than ten minutes.

As hard as some might think it is to watch people scarf down hot dog after hot dog, Nathan’s International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest is quite entertaining to watch and draws in a large crowd of spectators. Even the biggest sports network around, ESPN, has reserved the broadcast rights and has been airing this event since 2004. With the Fourth of July not to far off, online sportsbooks such as BetED are offering entertainment betting odds on the contestants for this years Nathan’s International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest, and according to the lines, Joey Chestnut may have himself another win this year.
