Sophomores Favored to Continue Streak Over Rookies at NBA All-Star Weekend

The Rookies vs Sophomore game during NBA All-Star weekend is a fan favorite. It has been dominated by the sophomores however, as they have won seven consecutive. Last year, Kevin Durant preserved the streak by contributing 46 points in the effort, which won him the games’ Most Valuable Player honor. The Sophomores won 122-116. This season, a new batch of players arrive, and last year’s rookies are now in their sophomore campaign in the NBA.
The 18 players selected to play in the game were chosen by the assistant coaches from around the NBA. The sophomores lead the rookies 8-2 in the overall standings of the game. Oddsmakers are quick to jump on the sophomore bandwagon, as they have been installed as a 12-point favorite to continue the domination of the rookies, according to the NBA Betting Lines at BetUs sportsbook. The over/under for the match up has been set at 245 1/2 points.
The game’s MVP competition also fields wager lines.
The rookie team is loaded with talent, headlined by Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans. Evans is averaging over 20 points per game and five assists. He was the fourth overall pick in this year’s NBA draft out of Memphis University. BetUs has set Evans as a +400 favorite to earn MVP honors.
Joining Evans on the rookie squad is Golden State guard Stephen Curry. Curry has had a successful rookie season, averaging 15 points and five assists per contest. The Warriors have struggled as a team however, tabbing a mere 14-37 record. Curry has been installed as a +550 favorite to win the games’ MVP.
The sophomore players are favored by online sportsbooks, as Miami Heat guard Michael Beasley is the overall betting favorite to win collect the MVP, sporting +350 odds. Beasley is averaging over 15 points for the Heat in 31 minutes per game.
Fellow sophomore OJ Mayo is a leading contender for the games’ top player. Mayo is averaging close to 18 points per contest for Memphis, to go along with four rebounds. Mayo is going off at +450.
