Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos Super Bowl 48 Game Lines Released
It’s the best offense in the NFL going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL for Super Bowl 48. It’s also a battle between both of the No.1 seeds from the AFC and NFC. In short, it’s the matchup that most want to see.
The Denver Broncos will play the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, February 2 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
On the surface, the storyline will be Peyton Manning going for Super Bowl victory No.2, overcoming the adversity of being sidelined for a year + his release by the Colts. In his second season in Denver, Manning has the Broncos in the Super Bowl. The disappointment of last year was a driving force behind the mission this season.
As for Denver’s Super Bowl opponent, they come in with an attitude. We knew going in that the NFC Championship between the Seahawks and 49ers would be gritty. Even that was underestimated. It was a very intense game that wasn’t decided until the final seconds.
Now though, both teams leave the comfort of their own homes to travel across the country. Each is great at home and has had their struggles on the road. This is also the first Super Bowl that will be held at an outdoor stadium up north. This game will not be in the comforting climate of San Diego or Miami. Nor will it be held in the controlled temperatures of a dome. This will be out right by New York City, where the average February temperatures do not exceed 40 degrees, and where the night time temperatures rarely get above 20.
The Super Bowl is the most bet-on game all season long. It took all of a couple hours for online sportsbooks to form a game line. Despite being the favorites to win the Super Bowl according to Bovada Sportsbook, the Seahawks have been installed as the underdog in the initial release.
The betting line sits at 1.5 points in favor of Denver. The Broncos have been favored in every game they’ve played. Denver covered the game line in the AFC Championship with the 10-point win over the Patriots. Seattle did not cover the four points that they were favored over San Francisco.
But there is plenty of time for those interested to make a wager on the game. With the week off in between the matchup, thats 13 days of action. The game line is the first of hundreds of odds to come. Also, expect to see movement on the game line depending on how they money is placed.
The other line that has been released is the game total. This is very interesting because it matches the highest-scoring teams against a very good defense. But the total has still be set at 47.5 points at Bovada. This means oddsmakers think there will be plenty of scoring. This is seen as Denver able to put up points + Seattle being able to score on a sub-standard Broncos defense missing key pieces. However, Denver did limit New England (3rd in scoring) to just 16 points.
Betting lines for Super Bowl 48 will continue to expand over the coming days with players and team props. Expect there to be over 100 different props to be formed + several alternate point spreads.
