Boise State Jumps Over TCU To No. 3 In New AP College Football Poll

November 14, 2010 – By Scott

The new Associated Press college football poll is now out and once again it has taken on a new look after some key losses by teams and close wins. No. 1 Oregon got a scare from California in their 15-13 win but did enough to remain the top-ranked team with 38 first-place votes. Auburn stays at No. 2 after erasing a 14-point deficit to beat Georgia and picked up 10 first-place votes to total 12.

Boise State, who had been falling the past two weeks, jumped back ahead of TCU to No.3 after beating Idaho 52-14 on Friday and TCU playing their closest game of the season, barely getting by San Diego State 4-35. TCU had jumped ahead of Boise State last weekend after pouncing then un-beaten Utah but fell back this weekend.

The remainder of the top 10 stayed pretty much the same with LSU at No. 5 followed by Wisconsin, Stanford, Ohio State, Nebraska and Alabama.

Two teams moved back into the polls for the third time this season. No. 20 Southern California and No. 24 Miami got back in after their wins. Also, two teams fell out of the polls this week after losses. Central Florida fell after losing to Southern Mississippi for the first time as a ranked team and Florida dropped out after their loss to South Carolina.

Iowa dropped eight spots to No. 21 after their loss to Northwestern. Mississippi State fell five places to No. 22 after losing to Alabama and Arizona also fell five spots to No. 23 after their loss to USC. Utah also fell 10 spots to No. 25 after their loss to USC.
