The Indiana Hoosiers ans Ohio State Buckeyes have a lot of similarities. Both are 3-2 in Big Ten play on the year. Both are are ranked in the top 10 in college basketball with the Buckeyes at No. 5 and Hoosiers at No. 8.
There is one notable difference however. One has beaten the other in their previous matchup this season.
Indiana (15-2) got the best of Ohio State in their first matchup this season winning 74-70 at home. On Sunday, the Buckeyes get a shot at revenge as they host the Hoosiers at 4:30 pm ET in game that can be seen live on CBS.
Playing in the friendly confines of Value City Arena has been huge for Ohio State. They are winners of every game at home this year with all three losses coming on the road, including a 79-74 loss to Illinois on Tuesday.
All-American forward Jared Sullinger has been the staple for the Buckeyes on both ends of the floor this season. He leading the team in scoring with 17.4 points per game and rebounds 9.3 per game. But some lapses in his play in the loss to Illinois must not happen as they face a huge test Sunday afternoon.
“There were times in the Illinois game where I just kind of took a break on the defensive end instead of the offensive end and it cost us,” Sullinger said. “Honestly, I was one of those people who played hard when they wanted to. I have to stop that.”
But Ohio State is not the only team coming into the game with vengeance on their mind. Indiana enters the contest coming off a loss of their own in which they fell to Minnesota at home 77-74.
“Both teams will be coming in with an edge, both coming off tough losses this past week,” Hoosiers’ guard Matt Roth said. “Both teams will make adjustments based on the game two weeks ago.”
Indiana is averaging 81.9 points per game and are led by 6’11” freshman forward Cody Zeller. Like Sullinger, Zeller leads the team in scoring (14.7 PPG) and rebounds (6.5). He is coming off another strong performance in the Minnesota loss where he had 23 points and 8 rebounds. Another big effort will be needed on Sunday.
NCAA College Basketball Betting Lines have Ohio State favored by 13 in their matchup with Indiana. The OVER/UNDER in points is set at 143.
