Favored Belfort/Evans Prevail At UFC 133…Betting Lines Now Available For UFC 134

August 7, 2011 – By Scott
MMA action in the UFC has been uncanny lately and Saturday night at UFC 133 was no exception.  Two huge fights went down as Rashad Evans faced Tito Ortiz accompanied by Vitor Belfort taking on Yoshihiro Akiyama.  MMA sportsbooks got it right in both fights as the favorite came out on top.
Many wondered how Evans would perform after not fighting in 14 months.  As it turned out, sportsbooks felt this would not be an issue and at the conclusion of the fight this proved to be true.  A longer layoff might have been beneficial to Ortiz after fighting on two weeks notice as Evans got the victory via second round TKO. Evans was relentless against Ortiz the entire fight after landing 77 strikes in 135 attempts to just 6 landing on 28 attempts by Ortiz.

“I feel great,” said Evans after the fight. “I feel all that hard work paid off.”

Now, Evans will have to wait until Jon Jones and Quinton Jackson go at it on September 24 to find out who his next opponent will be as he will face the winner of this fight.

In the Belfort Akiyama fight, both entered the fight coming of losses with Akiyama actually on a two-fight losing streak.  Belfort’s loss came to the UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva back in February but he would come out against Akiyama with a grudge and knocked him out at the 1:52 mark of the first round.

“I’m back!” Belfort said after the win. “I want to thank Jesus for everything I have in my life.

“I feel great. Whoever they put before me, watch out!”

Now,  MMA fans await UFC 134 which is set to take place on August 27th at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.  Bodog sportsbook has already fielded betting odds for this event and three huge fights are already on tap to wager on.

Anderson Silva will take on Yushin Okami and Silova will be tagged as the betting favorite with a moneyline set at -500 while Okami has his line set at +350.  Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will also be back in action as he will face Forrest Griffin in a huge fight.  Rua will enter the fight favored over Griffin with his moneyline set at -200.  Griffin has his set at +160.  Finally, Brendan Schaub will square off with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira with Schaub as the betting favorite.  He has his moneyline set at -200 and Nogueira has his set at +160.
