“I feel great,” said Evans after the fight. “I feel all that hard work paid off.”
Now, Evans will have to wait until Jon Jones and Quinton Jackson go at it on September 24 to find out who his next opponent will be as he will face the winner of this fight.
In the Belfort Akiyama fight, both entered the fight coming of losses with Akiyama actually on a two-fight losing streak. Belfort’s loss came to the UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva back in February but he would come out against Akiyama with a grudge and knocked him out at the 1:52 mark of the first round.
“I’m back!” Belfort said after the win. “I want to thank Jesus for everything I have in my life.
“I feel great. Whoever they put before me, watch out!”
