The race for the NFL postseason is certainly an interesting one, as teams are trying to peak at the right time to make a run at the Super Bowl.
Of all the teams though, it’s the Green Bay Packers who are arguably playing the best football. That is justified in the betting lines to win Super Bowl 49 at Bovada Sportsbook. Fresh off of a victory over the New England Patriots at home this past Sunday to end the Patriots’ winning streak, the Packers are trending.
Aaron Rodgers has not thrown an interception at Lambeau Field in over two years. Despite the fact that the defense is vulnerable, Rodgers is playing well enough that it doesn’t even matter. Rodgers is on another level right now, and it doesn’t look like it will stop any time soon. At 7/2, Green Bay is the odds-on favorite to win entering Week 14.
The team they beat last week happens to be right behind them. New England had won seven-straight games up until Sunday’s loss, but they remain a top favorite. We could have seen a preview of the Super Bowl matchup. The first time that Rodgers and Tom Brady ever met might not have to wait long again for Round Two. New England is slated at 15/4 on the payout at Bovada, which is slightly below a 4 to 1 margin.
The two teams that met in last year’s Super Bowl fall in line next. First it’s the Denver Broncos at 17/4, followed by the Seattle Seahawks at 13/2. The Broncos opened the season as the favorite, and they can be expected to be a contender in the AFC. The battle for home field in the conference could prove to be of great importance if it comes down to New England and Denver. The Broncos will benefit huge if they can secure that No.1 seed.
Behind these top-four teams, the betting odds to win the 2015 Super Bowl jump up considerably. The Philadelphia Eagles come in next, but sit back at 12/1. While The Eagles are 9-3 and look solid with Mark Sanchez, Vegas doesn’t appear to be confident in their ability to win in the postseason just yet.
After Philadelphia, the odds continue to rise rather sharply, with Indianapolis at 18/1, and Detroit at 25/1 next.
It’s clear that the there are four true contenders at this point that Bovada believes have the best chance to win the Super Bowl. Right now, you would probably be wise to take one of these four against the field.
