In NBA action on Sunday afternoon, fans can possibly get a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals as the current two best teams are set to square off. At 3:30 pm ET on ABC, the Miami Heat will host the Chicago Bulls at AmericanAirlines Arena for their first matchup this season.
In their three matchups a year ago, Chicago took all three but when things really mattered, the Heat got past the Bulls in five game in the conference finals.
This game also features two of the best players in the league this year, as well as the past two league MVPs. Chicago’s Derrick Rose and Miami’s LeBron James will lead their teams in what is sure to be an exciting game.
“We hope the fans are excited about the game, but as far as the most-hyped game (of the season so far), I don’t think so,” James said. “We enjoy it. We’ve got those types of guys who love the big stage, if that’s what you want to call it. It’s going to be a good game. We’re looking forward to the challenge and I know they are as well.”
The Bulls (17-4) enter the game winners in 5 of their last 6 outings. Their lone loss during this stretch came on Wednesday to the Indiana Pacers. They responded on Friday to get past Milwaukee 107-100 in a game where Rose poured in 34 points.
Chicago is getting 97 points per game with Rose chipping in for 21.9 of those. Defensively is where they pose such a big threat. For the year, they are second in the league in points allowed surrendering just 87.0 per game.
Miami (14-5) is currently riding a three-game win streak and will try to counter the strong defensive of Chicago with the league’s second best average in points per game. For the year, they are getting 104.2. However, they have not been as stellar on the defensive end where they are giving up 96.4 points per game which is 23rd in the NBA.
NBA Basketball Betting Lines have tagged the Heat as 4 1/2-point home favorites over the Bulls. The OVER/UNDER in points is set at 191.
