Oddsmakers Release Early 2012 Masters Odds, Led By Tiger Woods

July 19th, 2011- By Bryan Cross

There is still one more Major championship to be decided on the PGA Tour this season, but it is still not too early to look ahead to 2012, and the Masters next April.

At least, that’s what oddsmakers at Bodog Sportsbook have done, formulating 2012 Masters Betting Lines on for next season’s first Major.

Online sportsbooks are clearly predicting that Tiger Woods will be at full strength when he returns to competition, and moreover, believe that he will come back and play well. While it is unclear whether or not the former No.1 ranked player in the world will be in the field for the PGA Championship. He has already missed both the U.S Open and the British Open. If he were to skip the PGA Championship, it would be a full year in between Woods competing in a Major championship.

Though at Bodog Sportsbook, Woods has been set with odds at 6/1 to win the Masters next April.

He leads names like Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Le Westwood and Luke Donald.

McIlroy has been set with odds at 7/1, and Mickelson at 10/1. Then, there is a bit of a gap in between, with Westwood going off at 20/1 and Donald at 25/1.

Of course, the Masters is still quite a long way off, but these Masters Futures Odds are exactly that, formulating lines that may be more favorable given the fact that the tournament is 9 months away.

Woods has won four Masters in his career, while Mickelson can tie that mark with a win in 2012.

Outside of those two though, few Major championships have been won between the rest of the top-10 on the list of 2012 Masters favorites.

Only McIlroy and Martin Kaymer have experience winning a Major Championship of the 2012 Masters Top-10 favorites to win. McIlroy captured this year’s U.S Open, while Kaymer won the 2010 PGA Championship.
