The Nebraska Cornhuskers enter the 2011 College Football season with big expectation, even given the fact they they will be going up against a whole new slate of competition.
The Cornhuskers parted ways with the Big XII conference and joined the Big Ten, where they will assume that conference portion of the schedule this season.
And in this first season for Nebraska in the Big Ten, oddsmakers have already begun installing them in the role of the favorite, adding to the hype surrounding the team in Lincoln. For the first time, with 12 teams now in the Big Ten, the conference will have a championship game at the end of the season, with the two new division winners competing for the automatic BCS Bowl Berth.
The Leaders and Legends divisions were formulated to divide up the Big Ten conference.
Nebraska is in the Legends Division, and at the forefront of both division odds and in the conference betting lines.
But in addition to the overall odds to win the division and the conference odds, Bodog is also fielding Over/Under wagers on the Win totals for several of the notable teams this year. Included in those teams are the Cornhuskers.
Oddsmakers are expecting the Cornhuskers to win big this season, installing the over/under win total at 10 wins for the season.
At this line, the The Over is not the favorite, set at +125 for Nebraska to win 11 or more game this season. On the opposite side of the line, the Under win total is a -155 favorite. Of course, this bet can also result in a push with exactly 10 victories by the Cornhuskers this season.
Nebraska opens up the season on Sept. 3 against Chattanooga, followed by three other out-of-conference games before opening up their Big Ten slate with a potential Top-10 showdown on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers.
