3/2– The Florida State Seminoles enter the 2011 college football season among the top favorites to compete for the National championship, behind only Oklahoma and Alabama on BCS Championship Betting lines at Bodog Sportsbook. But in addition to that, online sportsbooks have recently released the conference and division odds among Division I schools. Here, the Seminoles are the top favorite to win the Atlantic Coast Conference, going off at 3/2. But they are not the assertive favorite that perhaps some thought. Virginia Tech is just behind the Seminoles at 11/5. The Hokies defeated the Seminoles last season in the ACC Championship Game and come into this year as the defending conference champions. But, these two teams, while close to each other in terms of betting lines, are well ahead of the rest of the teams in the ACC, with Miami the the closest at 9/2.
8/5– The Nebraska Cornhuskers will begin their first season in the Big 10 this season as the overall favorites to win the conference, ahead of Wisconsin and Ohio State. The Cornhuskers have been installed with odds at 8/5 on Bodog Sportsbook, with the Badgers second in the line of favorites at 11/5. The Nebraska defense, combined with quarterback Taylor Martinez are the likely reasons behind Nebraska entering the year as the betting favorite. For the first time in history, the Big 10 will feature a conference championship game at the beginning of the season, now having 12 teams with the edition of the Cornhuskers. Ohio State were the likely favorites before the scandal broke that caused both head coach Jim Tressel and quarterback Terrelle Pryor to leave the school.
12/1 – Tiger Woods fired caddie Steve Williams, and made the announcement on Wednesday via his official website that it was “time for a change.” The move came as quite a surprise to the sports world, and the questions of Wood’s future remains up in the air as to when he will return to competition as he goes through rehab of injuries to his leg. But now Woods has severed his last remaining tie to the scandal that broke 18 months ago. Woods has switched swing coaches, gone through a swing change, and numerous issues off of the golf course. With just one Major championship remaining in 2011, the PGA Championship in August, Woods still is undecided if he will compete. That hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from installing Woods will betting line at the PGA Championship, installing him at 12/1 on PGA Championship Betting Lines at Bodog Sportsbook.
7/1– With the NFL lockout appearing to be on the verge of coming to an end, players will be getting back to work and able to go to their team facilities. As teams move forward and begin signing free agents and rookies, oddsmakers will likely hop on the bandwagon. As of now Super Bowl XVLI are featured on NFL Futures Odds, with the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers leading the way at 7/1.
