Saturday night does not mark the first time that the UFC has made it’s way onto the FOX network. But it should shape up to be one of the most exciting events yet.
Two huge fights are on the main card where the winners could line themselves up for a shot at the light heavyweight title as future opponents for Dan Henderson or Jon Jones. Mauricio Rua will take on Brandon Vera and Lyoto Machida will face Ryan Bader in the two fights that are without a doubt headlining UFC on Fox 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
As far as the Rua vs Vera fight is concerned, this might be the last hoorah for Vera (12-5) as he attempts to revive his up and down career in the octagon. He has only one win in the last three years so this will be huge for him. The good news for Vera is that Rua (20-6) has battled injuries and how his body will hold up could be a factor.
Bovada Sportsbook has fielded their UFC on Fox 4 Betting Odds and have Rua as the overwhelming favorite with a moneyline set at -375. What this line means for betting purposes is that for every $1.00 wagered on Rua, the payout is .27 cents. Betting on the underdog Vera (who has his line set at +285) will reap the bigger reward should he pull off the upset. For every $1.00 wagered, the payout is $2.85.
The Bader vs Machida matchup will feature two fighters with impressive overall records. Bader enters the fight with 14-2 record while Machida is at 17-3. Even though Machida has fallen in three of his last four fights, he still has the power and striking ability do a lot of damage. Bader is 1-1 in his last two fights and nothced a win over Quinton Jackson is his last outing after falling to Tito ortiz.
Bovada has installed Machida as the betting favorite with a moneyline set at -375. Bader assumes the underdog role with a moneyline set at +265. As with the Vera, betting on Bader will have the bigger payout should he pull of the upset.
